Ritz Season Cocktail Party For TVAA Members June 3rd The Ritz TheatreThis event is FREE for Circle Level members (Scholar's Circle and above). Members at the Individual and Family/Friend level are also welcome, with a $10 admission at the door. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails as we announce the upcoming theatre season and open Early Bird Season Tickets to our VIPs. Season tickets at the party will be $60 (public tickets will be $75). Plus, enjoy preview performances by some of our Into the Woods cast members and meet the directors of this season's production! Fantasy fairytale attire is optional.

UNA Percussion Camp 2023
June 5-8 UNA Our Summer Percussion Camp gives students the chance to study concert, world, marching, and drumset over a 4-day intensive. For the marching portion, students will be drumming side by side with the UNA Drumline!

The Shoals: Classic Studio Workshop @ The Factory

The week-long event invites participants into The School of Making's expanded studio for a total immersion into our philosophies, methods, materials, and products. Participants will experiment with several different techniques in hand sewing and will be guided through each step in the process of creating a garment from The School of Making.
Camp KD | Week 1 June 5-9 Kennedy-Douglas Center for the Arts, Florence  Camp KD is an annual summer camp held at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts. This program is made possible by the on-going support of the Kennedy-Douglass Volunteers - a 501(c)(3). Each day at Camp KD students are taught traditional artistic techniques through fun, creative activities led by local art Educators. To wrap up each week, the students have an opportunity to show off their work to parents and family at small reception and exhibit.

Young Learners Series: Mary Golda RossJune 10thFlorence Indian Mound MuseumJoin us on Saturday, June 10th at 10 for a program and activity about Cherokee engineer Mary Golda Ross. Mary was born in 1908 and is the great-great granddaughter of Principal Chief John Ross. Mary graduated college with a mathematics degree and started studying astronomy while earning her master's degree.  Ross worked for the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation during World War II and helped to develop a new fighter plane.  When the space race began, Ross became the first woman engineer among a team of 40 engineers to work on a top-secret program. Mary Golda Ross is recognized as the first Native American female engineer.

Summer Mini Twil Camp June 12th- 14th Florence City Coliseum Fun 3 Day Mini Camp for students ages 3-12 who want to give twirling a try or continue learning new skills. Camp will be divided into two groups with our younger twirlers participating in a fun princess camp with dress up days and a routine set to Disney music. Older students will take part in the Just Twirl Camp learning fun tricks, basics and a group routine. No twirling experience required, but twirlers will need to provide their own batons. Cost $75.00
Ritz Theatre Camp (3rd-6th Grade) – Cycle 1June 12th- 16thThe Ritz Theatre The Ritz Theatre Summer Camp is instructed by Jaleesa Escott and administered by the Tennessee Valley Art Association. Jaleesa Escott is a graduate of the University of North Alabama. While there, she participated in various groups such as UNA's vocal jazz and opera/musical theatre program. She attained both her undergraduate and master's degree in music education from UNA. Miss Escott has worked in her field for the past five years and directed several shows throughout her career, including Honk, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and The Wizard of Oz. She is also working with TVAA and the Ritz for upcoming performances.

Junior Archaeology Camp June 12th- 16th Florence Arts and Museums The camp will introduce students to the concepts of archaeology through hands-on investigation and research. Students will learn how to research, plan, excavate, and process artifacts at Pope's Tavern Museum. Archaeology can help children grasp concepts relating to mathematics, history, geology, chemistry, social science, and more; this camp will utilize archaeological concepts for teaching the methods of archaeology and the history of the Pope's Tavern site, while also incorporating age-appropriate and hands-on activities that relate to these various academic subjects.

The Shoals: Patternmaking Workshop @ The Factory June 19th- 23rd Alabama Chanin @ The Facotry This workshop highlights Alabama Studio Sewing Patterns and focuses on taking measurements, creating a customized sloper using our T-shirt pattern and Drawstring Pant pattern, making alterations to existing The School of Making patterns, and reviewing how to create and adjust commercial garment patterns for cotton jersey.
Helen Keller Festival June 22nd- 25th Spring Park- Tuscumbia Helen Keller Festival 2023 starts on Thursday, June 22, 2023 with our kickoff street party in downtown Tuscumbia, AL. featuring live music and tasty food. Then, join us in Spring Park on June 23-25, 2023 for more live music, arts and crafts vendors, kids area, educational booths and more. It is fun for the whole family!
An Evening with Crystal Gayle June 24th Norton Auditorium The legendary Crystal Gayle shares her phenomenal catalog of songs which includes 22 #1 hits and earned her numerous awards from the CMA, ACM and Grammy.

Junior Art Camp (3rd-6th Grade) July 10th- 14th Tennessee Valley Museum of ArtStudents will develop fundamental skills while exploring multiple mediums such through engaging art experiences. The Junior Artist sessions will be led by veteran artists & art instructors. The instructors will include Amita Bhakta, Provie Musso, Cynthia Infanger, and others. Each instructor is accompanied by assistants to allow as much direct contact with the students as possible. This year's junior camp class will be divided into two groups: 3rd & 4th graders and 5th & 6th graders.
Advanced Art Camp (7th-12th Grade) July 10th- 14th Tennessee Valley Museum of Art Advanced Artists will work with the highly skilled portrait artist Martha Carpenter to explore advanced drawing methods, learn new skills and refine existing techniques. This class is limited capacity to allow for one-on-one instruction and feedback.
Gross Out Camp! July 10th- 14th Joe Wheeler State Park If it is icky, stick or gross, it's Gross Out Camp! Slimy salamanders, slugs, bugs, crawdads and roly polies are all found at Joe Wheeler State Park as campers explore their world at camp through hands-on field biology. (It's science but please don't tell the kids.)
The Shoals: Three-Day Workshop @ The Factory July 12th-14th Alabama Chanin @ The Facotry  Our popular Classic Weekend Workshop is reintroduced as our Three-Day Workshop in a new and improved format. This workshop opens our studio doors at The Factory in Florence, Alabama, and allows participants to work with our in-house team, a selection of our most loved DIY garment patterns, and our extensive DIY stencil library.
Saddle Up for St. Jude July 13th- 15th Tuscumbia  Welcome to the 27th annual Northwest Alabama Saddle-Up for St. Jude Trail Ride and Concert! There are over 300 acres of riding trails to enjoy along with our featured entertainment of local musicians and country music star,  SAWYER BROWN - Pam Tillis, and Shenandoah.

Basic Oil Painting With Martha Carpenter July 20th- 22nd Tennessee Valley Museum of Art Working from a still-life, the instructor will open class with a demonstration using a limited palette of the 3 primary colors, red, yellow and blue, supplemented by white. Emphasis will be on the "alla prima" painting technique. Alla prima is Italian for "at first attempt." It is a painting technique done in one layer in one sitting. During the remainder of each class, students will work on their own still-life while receiving individualized instruction throughout the day. /

Lori Putnam: Far From Home

This exhibition includes select paintings from the larger body of work Lori Putnam: Far From Home. Modern Impressionism stretches the boundaries with artists painting in styles ranging from near realism to almost abstraction. Putnam's work is closer to the latter.

PORTALS: Collaborative Member Artist Exhibition

PORTALS is an interactive, organically evolving installation at Tennessee Valley Museum of Art. Doors can represent entrances, beginnings, transitions, gateways, thresholds, boundaries, or endings. Tennessee Valley Art Association member artists are invited to interpret these neutral doors (portals) as works of art. Artists can bring materials into the museum and paint, puncture, staple, découpage, etc. to their hearts' content. The exhibition will evolve through June 30. Each door will be auctioned off at the annual artist members exhibition, ARTWORKS, at the end of Summer.

Helen Keller Art Show Of Alabama

The Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama is an annual traveling juried art show. The show is open to students from throughout the state who have visual impairments, blindness, and or deaf blindness. The artists are of various age attending public, private, residential, and home schools. The show provides artists an opportunity to showcase their special talents and abilities.

Gates open at 7:00 p.m. Patrons are welcome to walk the grounds prior to curtain. The Miracle Worker at Ivy Green is performed out-of-doors at the Helen Keller Birthplace Amphitheater, 300 North Commons West, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674.
